About Me- Bird on the Border

My Photo
We have a wonderful son who has just married and I now have a wonderful daughter in law. So nice to have another girl in the family. My wonderful husband and I both work full time. We enjoy travelling ,going in our caravan, dining out and spending time with friends and visiting our children. Oh shouldn't forget "Tess" the spoilt black kelpie. I love anything country and Shabby Chic and I love patchwork and stitching and getting together with like minded ladies who love to do the same. I love catching up with friends over a cup of coffee , and the smell of biscuits cooking in the oven on a rainy day. I enjoy keeping in touch with friends I have met through blogging and sharing our sewing on line. I love going off on stitching retreats and quilting weekends with my quilting buddy Gail. And of course I love the birds in my garden. I also write the blog for our local quilt group Macintyre Quilters.

Goondi to Bundy

Last weekend we visited our son and his wife in Bundaberg. The devastation after the recent floods was horrific. Nothing we saw on the news really showed the extent of it or prepared me to see the heartbreak.   Weeks later those poor people are still in chaos and the amount of homes that have been completely washed away on Australia Day was just unbelievable, 1000 people homeless I think is the number. One part of me wanted to take photos and show you what you never saw on the TV news but the other part of me said no these people do not deserve to be reminded of it and to respect their traumatic loss of memories and precious things. My thoughts are with them.  Our family had some damage but still have their homes.

You know how we love to get together with a Pizza night. Josh made some great dessert Pizza .... really yumm....Marshmallows on top of Nutella ....easy , naughty and nice.

The beautiful Bargara Beach we went there for breakfast Sunday before heading home. Thank goodness the damage out there was kept to a very narrow strip and didn't affect the main part of town which is very dependent on visitors.

Glad your family were safe from the floods. I was up there last October, stayed at Bargara - gorgeous place!

I'm so glad your family was ok. I think the tv stations have moved on from the last disaster, but it's still very real for anyone who lives there. Visiting and spending money in the community is a great support.
