A Most Wonderful Mothers Day

Our beautiful family arrived after a 6 and a half hour drive.

Of course I had to spoil my GD on mothers day so we could play remote control Mini Mouse.

We picked chrysanthemums  from my garden which were given to me on a previous mothers day.

The flowers lost their attraction when we found the hose to water what was left.

By then Poppy and Evelyn needed a rest and so did Grandma.

 Ready to go again.  We had the best weekend. Our  little darling had her first sleep over at our house .

Musical Mayhem and Lucy Boston

My own sewing has been on hold a lot over the last couple of months or so.  I have been in charge of costumes for the school musical. A big job for me with one helper. We have collected and I have sewed all the costumes for " Thoroughly Modern Millie " on this Thursday and Friday and then thank goodness the stress and worry of all that will be over.

I have spent this weekend on making drop waist dresses for the chorus.... done  ... there are 7 others at school   ......YEAH......

After all that I found time to sit down and finish one more of my Lucy Boston blocks.  I am so behind with these.... Sandy  from Shiralee Stitches will be pleased.... I should not have taken this on , but I will get there because it will be a beautiful  and amazing quilt when I finish.

Stitching "Natures Journey"

I have finished another block of "Natures Journey" ( Anni Downs) .  Sorry if you have seen this post on the stitch along site.   I also thought I would show off the flowers I planted up in my garden a few weeks ago they are looking great, I am so pleased with these little blooms, always look good.

Remember Them

A few days sewing

Just spent a few days with my beautiful friend Chookyblue and her family. We sewed and talked and sewed and talked some more, had some bubbles and just enjoyed a few days together. 

We rehoused newly hatched guinea fowls or "keets"  and watched fairy girl raise one from near dead to a chirpy chic.  

Fairy girl and I did some sewing together and spent time in the Chook shed finishing her scrappy quilt. Chooky worked on  cutting out lots for her SAL and lots of EPP.

Then I started on this quilt I brought home from my trip to USA last April. I bought this from Broardway Quilts in the Sonoma Valley.( California) It was a beautiful shop. 

Some experimenting with a few positioning decisions. I always find it amazing how just turning a block or swapping around a piece on a block can make a huge difference.  Thanks Chooky for you help with this. The middle bottom block was the one in question. 

The quilt is from Laundry Basket Quilts its called  Remember. A combination of batik and traditional. 

Some baby guinea fowls..... so cute ...... just a few hours old but already so capable. These two will get special treatment....

Kids In the Country

Just had to share these photos.....such fun for the kids visiting their friends in central Queensland, an awesome Autumn day.  The sky is amazing.
