School Holidays

Hey Grandma , here is your birthday present!

On Wednesday we headed for Brisbane , (Queensland's Capital City ) for my OS friends. I really like these huge spheres dotted around the river end of the mall.

I had to take a photo of this wallpaper for Denice . A library without any books.??

Not sure their art matches the wallpaper though.

RAIN

It has just rained all night here. We do need the rain.   I love rain but as usual at this time of year it wont know when to stop in some places. I am desperately hoping this system goes west for you Chooky. Our niece and nephew on Bernie's side are in Proserpine which just copped the brunt of cyclone Debbie. Bill and Shiralee have a cane and cattle property and John and Melita are in building .Both have lots of damage.  Its very sad because after the last cyclone John's house had a big fire  when the power was turned back on and lost 1/2 his house . This time he has lots of water damage inside. Shiralee and Bill have water damage in their house but most of their farm infrastructure is gone.

To all my friends in the path of this silly x -cyclone and the rain depression that follows be careful.

Love you all

GDITC swap gifts

Working on Foxly Village by Natalie Bird
Just Noticed both of my accessories were swaps from Girls Day In The Country.... the needle case from Inca last year and the pin cushion from Dawnie this year.
This is the beautiful pin cushion Dawnie made for the swap this year and I was lucky enough to get it. Love your work Dawnie.

Finished Already

So pleased to say I have finished my 2017  Girls Day in The Country project by Bonnie Sullivan .
I love this cute little sewing basket which used to be a bamboo steamer...

I really love the fact that the base fabric was a piece of a 1930's quilt from America. Very old quilts are very difficult to get hold of here in Australia.  I hope on my America visit I get to see some.

While I was sewing the wool applique onto this I was thinking....

Who was snuggled under this quilt, where was it made?  What was the person like who made it.? Where did the fabrics come from??  May be you could even get DNA from it and find out?????

2 layers for storing sewing goodies  with a little wool lining.
Very cute lashing on the sides - not a cheap steamer
Lovely little saying
Inside the lid is a little pin cushion.
