Owling Around

After my last attempt at making an owl pattern and owl I had another go. Slightly different , less like a pokamon......LOL...

More my colours

The old wise owl and the young version, even though I pulled the young one apart and reduced the size of his ears  he still looks a little, well........

In the kitchen

Look what Mr Bird has been making ........for some of the Nundle tragics.....

Remember this bag ... I gave it to Robyn for her birthday this week. She is a  a dear friend and exceptional teacher aide
She also loves roses.

Our teacher aides make my job so much easier each and every day ...Thank you.

The Next Weekend in the Garden

Can't do anything in the garden without Tess.

Perfect Raking Mr Bird ....I sewed Owls .. Hee.Hee...
Now for the fireplace
Now for the Fire Trial ....must have wine...LOL

We are planning to complete it the area this  weekend....

Watch This Space

Last weekend I had to lose a good friend from my backyard.....It was interfering with our septic and dropping rather large limbs too close for comfort . We also have several big trees in our yard very close by so....... This is going to become an out door area with....

It will now be a table base for....
Lucky my dad and brother have been doing this sort of work all their lives.

Just a little trim for this one
Better than a wheel barrow

And now for a sausage sizzle. 3 generations. Dad, Jas and Kade - Thank you little brother.

Owls

My friend Julie and I decided we would try to make an owl. No pattern,  just lots of looking and trying to come up with something .Best of all I enjoyed sewing with my friend.

My owl with her owlets on her tummy....LOL I think her feathers/ ears are too tall and her eyes are yet to be sewn on. I think i will be unpicking and modifying her ears/ feathers. I think she looks like a pokamon.

Playing with the Camera

These Photos were taken at sunset at Chookyblue's- just beautiful

Sometimes gum trees get these growths on them.. but this one is huge.

This view is very typical of many water holes in western NSW and QLD

A gift transformed .

The journey to finishing my Stitch Along project...for once I finished it early.

The bunch of fat quarters I used was given to me by a good friend for Christmas...Thanks Kerry H.
I made the bag in the chook shed with Chookyblue..what fun. Instead of a stitchery I fussy cut some of the design from the fabric and used the raw edge appliqué technique.

Making lots of hexies

Straps and piecing

Add a little quilting and appliqué
It's done

A Saturday Morning Project

Little Twister

I had planned to leave Chooky's  Saturday morning but before I did we decided we should cut out a twister.

First select the fabric and borrow a couple of squares  from your junior and grown up friends... thanks Fairy Girl and Chooky

Cut 5 inch blocks ... sew up three rows of 9 and use the cool small twister ruler.

Put the puzzle together

Take a look and look again.... funky windmills.

Just have to finish it now by sewing it together ... unfortunately we ran out of time.....until next time.

A Few Days in the Country

Just spent a beautiful couple of days at Chookys. Some how Chooky and family ,minus one bookworm arrived in Goondiwindi and what a nice time we had. Then I was convinced and or kidnapped to be held at the Chookshed  for a few days... Not that I complained one bit..... LOL

The one thing I know is that when you have the opportunity to do something you love with friends you should  just do it.  Its great for you emotional and creative self.

The other thing I know is that I have the best husband in the world as he is always supportive of such ventures.........Thank you Mr Bird.

A few days  sewing at Chookys.... 2 baby quilts quilted and bound

Looking out the window of the chook shed

The bag for the SAL in progress.

Fairy girl and I finished a bag each . Mine was for the SAL.  I modified the hexie bag from Tis the Season by Natalie Bird

Just a little something to keep us going through the night.

Mr Bird's home  Chili Jam with Cheese of course!
One for Chooky, Jules and I
