Quilt Group Challenge and my New Sewing Machine

My lovely husband gave me a wonderful Christmas present. A new sewing machine. A Janome  Horizon MC 8900 QCP.

I have been busting to try it. Yesterday I finally cleared all the house from the new carpet being laid and found time to make a small project.

Our quilt group had a quilt challenge and as usual I am running late but I will have it done by our Feb meeting. I received some cute  colourful fabric so I am going to do a fun set with  it.  All my school needs. Started with a glasses case.

The fabric I drew from the basket ( 4 fat quarters in a bundle and wrapped) and then I can  use one metre of a fabric of my choice.

My inspiration -  an  Anni Downs project

Ta da !!!  First little project .. Love those spring openings.

My new sewing machine ...so lucky to have a beautiful husband who knows I love sewing and loves me.

My sewing room also received a makeover during my carpet renew I dedicated a new cupboard to the sewing room .. heaps more storage...might keep me organised ..LOL...

Quilt Challenge

Our quilt group had a challenge to use the four prints at the back, blue, spot, orange and green to create any project we wanted, there was not a lot of fabric. We could add one fabric of our own, I chose the novelty print with the quilt lady. The backing could be our choice mine was the tape measure fabric, I found this fabric a long time ago and never really knew what to do with it. Finally it has a role to play....   I guess that what happens when we have a stash.
Thanks to Natalie Ross I decided my fabrics would make "Retreat Seat"

I am sure I can use it at Nundle.

Recycle and Renew

A  new click clack couch for my extra visitors.
Sorry I haven't blogged for a while but life seems to take over sometimes.

How to make some more space for the visitors . We had plenty this last weekend.

Opens into a double bed

Time for some sewing .............
Our local quilt group is undertaking a recycle challenge. So I have decided to recycle some old doilies. I think I made these doilies when I was 19 or 20. Oh so long ago!

Some fabric left over from Stitcher Dream Day Out!

All those odd buttons! Will I use them ? I am so not creative when it comes to this kind of thing.

The doilies
I even crocheted the red one as well, also long ago, my lovely mum in law taught me to crochet.

The initial stages- cut and paste !
Now to add the stitchery from the quilt groups stitchery challenge nothing like killing 2 birds with one stone !

Looking better - a tray cloth to go in my red kitchen I think!

Pretty up the corners!
I have always liked strawberries .

Some circle work!..... LOL.....

Not pressed , not finished yet but getting there !
