Today I took time to appreciate mother nature , as I walked into the school gate I took this picture with my phone... Yes It is my work place. How often can we say our place of work is truly beautiful . I remember when I was a kid I would sit and thread the flowers onto the sticks that fell from the tree. I wonder if the kids do it now????

Nundle Fun
Well I am not sure I even remember how to blog about sewing it's been so long.
On the weekend 7 of us from our quilt group went to "Cottage on the Hill" for our annual retreat. We did all the good things, checked out the little gift stores and patchwork stores on the way.
We stayed in the new cabins especially designed for retreat ladies.... very nice we all loved it.
I made a fun, bright flannel quilt for the girls in the family. Then I tried my hand at a fancy bird pin cushion by "Wooden Spool Designs"(Deborah Busby) called A little Birdie Told me.
I had the best time thanks to Kerry and the girls. Our group was joined by Fiona it was lovely to meet her.

Peg's amazing quilt. The border really made it. |
This border fabric is beautiful |
This is mine. Flannel, simple and colourful just for Evelyn to snuggle in when she visits Grandma and Poppy in winter. The photo isn't great the colours are prettier than they look. |
A little birdie told me....I really enjoyed making this. |
Di's with the same fabrics as mine ...so colourful |

Spring Butterflies and Shopping
I have not been in my sewing room for so long. Life has been getting in the way, in a good way of course. I have been to see my granddaughter and I have been on a trip with Mr Bird west to Quilpie, Cunnamulla and Charleville, so many miles have been travelled this past school break.
On our western trip we stopped in a little place west of Cunnamulla called Eeulo there was a cute shop there called "Paroo Patch". The lady there runs a little patchwork group and her husband does amazing leatherwork.
I bought a lovely soft red hand made kangaroo leather bag, it was lined with floral patchwork fabric and I couldn't resist the red leather plaited belt. I thought the work was quality and the prices reasonable for such lovely hand made items. Of course a couple of fat quarters went into the basket as well.
Some other little things collected along the way.
Butterflies and Spring go together so I was tempted today to get in and finish this little project tin. This project was one from GDITC a couple of years ago when Sue Daley was the tutor.
I thought the inside of the tin needed decoration also. So its all done and ready to go do some English Paper Piecing.
