Day 2 -Passed through Nyngan and Cobar on our “ Lightning Ridge Via Broken Hill” trip

We passed through Nyngan and was introduced to the Big Bogan.  What is a bogan they asked?

Well if your not Aussie the slang might confuse you, I said he would have on a Jacky Howe , pluggers and footy shorts. He would have a stubby in his hand , truckers cap and a  mullet . Yep I was right. He is Aussie to the core and in Nyngan he likes to fish. 

We stayed in Cobar that evening and we caught up with  Kylie for dinner at the Bowling Club which has the best Chinese feed ever.. (Kylie comes to Scrub Stitch’n at Baradine.)

Lightning Ridge via Broken Hill

 The trip begins. 

Today we travelled to Narrabri and just out of town we discovered “The Compact Array”. 

What is that you ask, because I did. 

 It’s a set of 6 satellite dishes on a railway track that allow the dishes the best position to study our galaxy and the sun.The whole world relies on this data. The best is that they are  all Australian Made . Evan’s Deacon from Brisbane did the steel work and all technical , electrical and digital is done by the CSIRO.(Commonwealth Scientific Industrial Research  Organisation ) these dishes link with the one in the Warren-bungles near Coonabarabran and  the one in  Canberra and they produce a large picture of space.

A flimsy finish for ‘Simply Serene ‘

 I just loved this quilt when I saw it done in bright colours so that’s what I chose for ” Simply Serene”

Chooky chose this for the group project for 2026  Scrub Stitch’n for those who wanted to do it. 

I’m not sure if it was the block colours or the black and white stripe affect against them that most impressed me. Any way I am happy with it.
