The Snow Men are Done.

I was determined to finish these two projects and not pack them away unfinished until next Christmas and yes I have done it .. Yeah!  I love these part printed projects by Bonnie Sullivan. Stay tuned for the last thing to finish a Christmas bauble made with yo yos.

Packed up ready to sleep for a year!

This is my favourite one . My first introduction to the cardinal bird was with my American friend Denice in Michigan she had them at her back door...so cute.
I love reindeer and snow men too. I just love Christmas.

Happy Australia Day 2019

Happy Australia Day to all my Aussie Friends.

Have a good  day! We are blessed to live here on this island continent in the south.  Celebrate it for what it is today- diverse, free, friendly and prosperous. Remember Dorothea Mackeller's words when she doesn't treat us so well.( below) We know "she'll be right in the end "

My Country   by Dorothea Mackeller

The love of field and coppice
Of green and shaded lanes,
Of ordered woods and gardens
Is running in your veins.
Strong love of grey-blue distance,
Brown streams and soft, dim skies
I know, but cannot share it,
My love is otherwise.

I love a sunburnt country,
A land of sweeping plains,
Of ragged mountain ranges,
Of droughts and flooding rains.
I love her far horizons,
I love her jewel-sea,
Her beauty and her terror
The wide brown land for me!

The stark white ring-barked forests,
All tragic to the moon,
The sapphire-misted mountains,
The hot gold hush of noon,
Green tangle of the brushes
Where lithe lianas coil,
And orchids deck the tree-tops,
And ferns the warm dark soil.

Core of my heart, my country!
Her pitiless blue sky,
When, sick at heart, around us
We see the cattle die
But then the grey clouds gather,
And we can bless again
The drumming of an army,
The steady soaking rain.

Core of my heart, my country!
Land of the rainbow gold,
For flood and fire and famine
She pays us back threefold.
Over the thirsty paddocks,
Watch, after many days,
The filmy veil of greenness
That thickens as we gaze ...

An opal-hearted country,
A wilful, lavish land
All you who have not loved her,
You will not understand
though Earth holds many splendours,
Wherever I may die,
I know to what brown country
My homing thoughts will fly.

.
This is  what I am working on at the moment. It’s actually a brown orange thread which is one of my favourites. I bought this kit from the Sydney Craft show last year.

Why is it sometimes so very hard?

I think this is one on the hardest times of my life emotionally. My dad, Ray  has always been my rock, strong, powerful, inventive, giving, teaching, loving and protective.  Now it's our turn to do all that and more for him. Last week we had to admit him to an aged care home. On a respite basis at the moment but I have no doubt it will be permanent. His  health  and his ability to do day to day tasks independently is declining. His long term memory and ability to know his family is still fine but this is marred with some confusion and anxiety. He is 82 tomorrow. We will have cake!!  Life is not fair sometimes. Love you Dad!
