Geelong to Tasmania

Today was ferry day, all mechanical faults fixed and we boarded the “ Spirit of Tasmania 2” The sea in the Bass Strait was kind to us and it was calm. We arrived about 6.30 and drove out of Devonport to Latrobe and stayed our first night on the Island State. The weather is also being kind beautiful days and cool, but not cold, nights.

So exciting and relieved getting to the ferry after the mechanicals problems we had . This is our friends Pam and Tony’s van in front of us .We were there at 6.00am
The Spirit of Tasmania

The calmest day for sailing

Arriving in Devonport

In Latrobe we found this shop, come display, come coffee shop , come gift shop called RELIQUAIRE . It was a tourist attraction in itself. If you couldn’t buy it there I don’t think you could buy it.  I bought astronaut ice cream for the kids. A store for kids and grown ups alike.

The dinosaur exhibit

Always wanted to sit in Santa’s Chair
Halloween
Knights and dragons
ALICE

We also visited the axeman’s hall of fame in Latrobe. A dedication to all those axeman who started in the timber industry then used this skill for entertainment to compete against their mates.

I’m glad you had smooth sailing across Bass Strait. It sounds like your first day in Tasmania was a nice start to the trip.
