Baradine retreat 2022

Well what a great weekend. Lots of lovely ladies, some bloggers and great catering for us by Ronnie , Janine and Nea. Thanks ladies. My friend Gail came along with me and  that was great as it is a 4.5 hour drive to get there. Some ladies came from other states , what a drive they had - a day or two. We spent our time sewing , talking and sharing ideas, jokes and stories. Baradine is just a very small, small  country town and I hope we bought some support to their little town with our retreat.I love the people there such genuine people and some real characters.

Before going on retreat these two placed the squares on the design wall.. I think they did pretty well.

Step One -sew the squares

Step 2 cut them up and sew it again with a slight twist... this is what you get

Easter Prep and Crazy Hair Day

Today I spent some time doing some preparation for Easter. I will have a house full of  family and so looking forward to it. Shortbread cookies, cup cakes and choc chip cookies. Their favourites.

Now for the icing.

These two had crazy hair day and yes it's her own hair. He says he's a pineapple and she's a pumpkin. Ha Ha LOL.

Double Quilt Finish

It's such a nice feeling when a flimsy finally turns into a full blown finished quilt. I have finished binding two this week. Why did it take so long? The first one is one I made at Cottage on the Hill a few years ago now and the second one is an even older finish. But they are done now. Both simple but effective. Not the colours in my house decor but colours I love none the less. Gifts may be ??

Finished

My sewing room is finally had its final edition a sewing and cutting table from Horn. It arrived last night and my darling hubby put it together right away. Its height adjustable for cutting and sewing, The top flips if I need more space and it has a recess to make a flat top for quilting and its on casters for easy moving. So happy with it .

I am working on finishing this little table centre for Easter.. I have had it as a UFO for a long time . It's from Lynette  Anderson Designs

Buffalo quilt and my garden

Today was one of those days when I did everything and nothing. In my garden I found these gems. Of all the vegetables I've tried to grow these and herbs seem to be most successful, baby egg plants or aubergines. Worst is they are not even my favourite but they just grow on neglect.

I took a walk in the garden and found these regular little black ants , almost like house ants had raised their nest. I've seen lots of other ants raise their nest but not these. I also noticed the meat ant's nest was closed over so that means lots of rain and yes its raining right now. We need it but some are still harvesting sorghum and don't quite want it yet but they will have no choice as mother nature makes up her own mind.
When my husband traveled to Oklahoma several years ago he bought some quilt panels home for me. I have finally finished this quilt at long last. I love it.
I really Love the detail in this panel, especially in all the grass at the bottom.
This is where he bought it from The Prairie Quilt shop in Hennessy, Oklahoma. He said the line up the day he went was just like in this photo. But he lined up for me . He's the best. He actually went to 3 quilt shops while he was in the USA and I have talked about in in a past blog.  Apparently this place is pretty famous.

Thanks for the blog comments ladies I still can’t get my blog to email to me so I can see a chat with Chookyblue coming up. I have completed a few more filler locks and that’s the Lucy Boston progress so far. I’ve had a knee replacement and have been in hospital and rehab just short of 2 weeks. Home tomorrw.

Finished

My new happy place is finished. I am so lucky and so thankful. The sliding cupboard doors arrived yesterday. It all looks so  neat now. I just have to tidy up after each sewing stint.

This morning I woke early and spent time in my happy place to make these little cutlery holders. I  hate those wooden spoons they give you  with takeaway food . They are so raspy on your tongue. No plastic anymore. So I carry my own . I made some cases from the plastic coated fabric you can get these days. I'ts washable and light weight. I made some for friends as well.

Today we had a wild wind and dust storm and I was hemmed in by flyaway and umbrella grass, never before have I had it that I had to wade through it to get out the door. Nothing was damaged but the whole  yard is a mess with it. Tomorrow I need to clean up the entire fence line.  Grrr.

This stretched back a couple of metres but you cant see that so well

And after this amazing rainbow with a difference

My New Happy Place.

For the past few months I and the builder  have been working on making my custom sewing room .Everything has been packed away but now its ready to go. I am so super lucky to have this and I am so super happy I no longer have piles of plastic tubs, I now have drawers , I no longer have machines and things on the floor, I now have them in the cupboard and I no longer have carpet to trap the pins. I am just waiting on my sliding doors for the big built in . So ready to get sewing but a knee replacement surgery on the 31st Jan might slow me down a bit. But I will get in there.

Walk in here

Yep my own TV and design wall . I can move the cutting table when i need to its on wheels
