Christmas Books

Eleventh hour sewing to finish off a Christmas book for someone to read under the Christmas tree or on  Poppy's lap.

It has been a tradition in my family to put a variety of Christmas story books under the Christmas tree leading up til Christmas Day The children love it and it also saves the Christmas Baubles on the tree...lol.  There's nothing like reading to little ones , it's truly quality time for adults and children.....It's never too early to start. Merry Christmas!

Happiness is ...

Happiness is Poppy with his little girl and their sparkles or as she calls them her "pretties" and me being able to watch them.

Happiness is Poppy and his little girl reading her new piano book and me looking on and listening.

A sad day for Australia

I cannot believe the events in Sydney yesterday.

Sympathy, thoughts and prayers for those
                     hostages involved and their families.

Thoughts and thanks to the brave police who
risked their lives to end that terrible siege.

Repurpose.

I have been having a bit of a clean up during decorating and some things just need to be moved out....or do they... This lovely wooden box was in my  kitchen with a cherry photo on the front. Always held plastic bags... but that's what drawers are for...

Now its in my sewing room.  Big enough to hold cutters and scissors etc ... I have had this little sewing machine trinket for ages and I think it just suites the part....

Now finish cleaning up the sewing room and get into some sewing...

A Christmas Tour of Our Home.

After reading Kate's blog where she took us for a tour  of her lovely home. I thought , what a nice idea .

So I will give you a tour of mine. Bernie usually changes the blocks around to spell all sorts of crazy things that seems to have become a tradition in our house.

No it's not Christmas .. just left overs from the the 'tree decorating party".. have one every year so much better than doing it on your own when you are "empty nesters "..

Go from the kitchen to the dining room..new candle lights... a lovely gift from one of my friends ( and one of the tree decorators.)

Go the other way and the family room has a little more Christmas...kids corner.

From the dining room. Makes me feel like I am having a white Christmas when I look here.

Looking to the lounge room

Our tree

A little touch of Denmark because it holds a special place in  my heart.

And that is it... Hope you enjoyed visiting me this Christmas.

December

I love Christmas ...Family... cooking... get togethers.....and rain.....

My niece and great niece ...it is so wonderful to have little people in our lives.

My beautiful granddaughter ... camping....and enjoying the rain ....even though the rest of the campers probably don't want it. Something about kids and rain they just don't care....

Bernie's been making pesto...it is pretty good I must add.

I love Christmas....

So Dry

You know those stories that go around that make our overseas friends think kangaroos hop down the street in Australia. Well yesterday that happened to me!

A mob of Kangaroos have moved into town onto a spare block I drive past to go to school. One was actually hopping down the street yesterday. Today I stopped and tried to take a photo with my phone.  Not bad for an iPhone. For you Denise, Grethe , Satu and Isabelle

A new project

At the moment I am working on this project in wool.

A quilt for Caleb

A lady put me onto this product . It is truly amazing this rids me of safety pins forever. Had to get Mr B
to help me, even though he said he's not really into sewing. This little quilt is for our Niece's son Caleb.

Today we Remember

Today we remember those who paid the ultimate sacrifice for us to be free.

Today I also give thought to all those returned soldiers, their families and their daily struggles and hope their lives are  hopeful and happy.

I also give thanks and support  to the men and women currently serving.
( for you Clint , Carla and Corey and all of your fellow soldiers)

Got a Gator and a Dog.

This little girl just loves her dog and her gator . For those of you who don't know a gator is like a 4 wheel buggy for the farm This one imitates a John Deere .  You can see how much she loves it.

She' got sore eyes at the moment but just look at the face.

Pin cushion with storage.

This weekend I promised myself to sew... Last weekend I taught this Debee McGee pin cushion to my quilt group.    This one is missing it's embroidery.

Made from a kit from "Quilters Angel "in Highfields , Toowoomba

I have added lace to the sides and left the lace off the base in this variation.Love the buttons .

Recycle

I have been sick of moving this old lamp from one spot to the next ...trying not to throw it out.

It is useless in design and keeps falling over.  I bought it years ago as a cheapie for our unit.  Shouldn't have.

The shade was new and I really liked it .

Found this again...I had forgotten I had put this lovely big pot behind the chair in the lounge.... no room...

So after some cutting and chopping at the old stand...I now have this and I think its pretty cool.

More beautiful when the lamp is on.
