Australia Day - I spent Australia Day in North Queensland with my brother in law and his family. It has rained all day and all night since I arrived Thursday. Just lovely to have rain I hope I take some home with me. We ate pies and burgers and had some nice wine. We talked and told stories and had a great time.

Bias Maker
I bought this little machine last year and this is the first time I have used it .. I know ... terrible isn't it. But anyway... it is a very useful little gadget if you have to make lots of bias or you like to use bias in a lot of your sewing or craft projects. Its made by simplicity
roll on your strips |
Thread it through as in a normal bias maker |
Put the cover on |
Press the button and away you go |
Nice to be at the Chookshed
On my way to Chooky's
Last weekend I made a quick decision to visit Chookyblue. Haven't been out for a while so off I went on my four hour journey. These aren't the best photos but I often see some brumbies ( wild horses) in the forest near Piliga. I love seeing them but they are a bit shy.

Dad's 81
Last Sunday was my Dad's 81st. I thought I would try American peanut butter pie, my favorite dessert when I was there. It was not as successful as I wanted . Our cornflour must be stronger as the filling was too thick and I couldn't get the peanut butter crumble to go on the base so I used crushed buttersnap biscuits. It didn't work the same but I am going to try again and do some modifications. One of my goals for this year is not to waste food so I made a pavlova with the egg whites which were not required for the recipe The pool and the BBQ were well used.
Cleaning out the Sewing Cupboard
On my journey to getting back into it I found a pile of tea towels and hand towels that I had planned on decorating for gifts. So I am into getting these done. They are very basic but done ready for the present box. I always think a cute tea towel over the bread basket at a BBQ is a nice touch. They have only been in the cupboard for about three years, so naughty.
A couple of hand towels to jazz up the bathroom .

Getting Back to it
Getting down to my sewing space. I had to find a spot for this beautiful little quilt Denice gave me in November when I visited her in Michigan. ( You will find her at "Denice's Day" on my side bar. http://weesied.blogspot.com.au/ )I could not find any wall space so it is at the entrance to my sewing room on my Nana's Singer treadle. It so lovely just like a flower garden inside.
I finally got to my sewing space after reading Chooky's and Googy's blog. I really must get in there every day.
Finish a little more Christmas
I couldn’t resist finishing this little project ready for next Christmas. I made the blue version just before Christmas. Bought them in Houston.
